Yogi

I miss you both and hope all is well with you and your families. I think about you both all the time. Yogi is so great. I will never be able to thank you enough for allowing Yogi to be a part of my life. I am truly blessed to know you, and to have Yogi in my life. We spend every second together, and there is not a minute that goes by that I am not thankful. He is so special and gives me strength when it's not there. He is truly a great ambassador for the breed, as he loves everyone he meets and can't wait to share a kiss or a smile. People are just as excited to meet or ask about him, and it never gets old. I must admit if I had a penny for every time I have herd the words Pony, or horse, associated with Yogi I would be a millionaire.

Yogi went for a groom yesterday and he looks so handsome in his new American Flag bandana. I am happy to report with a little hard work Yogi was able to lose 9 pounds and is now 229 pounds, and healthy as can be. He actually grew in height the last 7 months even though he is closer to 4, then 3 years old (truly crazy that he is 3 and a half already). The Vet feels he will be fine if we can keep him close to 225 pounds based on his body type. We seem to get as much, if not more exercise in the winter, as Yogi and I absolutely love the snow. We are due for 2 or more feet of the white stuff by Saturday afternoon, so Yogi will be in heaven. I am so excited for him. The other day we had a little snow storm, and when Yogi looked out the window and saw the snow, he ran right down stairs and sat at the front door :) Of course we went right out for him to play. You should see him catch a snowball.

Sadly we had to put down my neighbor's Black Lab last week. Ubu was over 14 years old and was a huge part of Yogi's life. They were great friends, and Ubu taught Yogi right from wrong when Yogi was a puppy. It was truly amazing to see the transformation in their relationship the last 6 months or so. Yogi went from learning from Ubu, to watching out for him. Yogi became protective over Ubu, and if the other dogs were playing rough around him, Yogi would swarm in and calm things down, it truly was priceless to watch. My neighbor used to leave her front door open so Ubu could look out, and Yogi would always look for Ubu as we walked by. He is still looking for Ubu, and it is pretty sad, but we are thankful Ubu is in a better place right now, as his last few days were pretty rough. I am sure it will take a little more time before Yogi realizes Ubu is gone.

I love Yogi so much, and I am so thankful I found this wonderful breed, and 2 people as special as you. Keep up the great work, because there is no doubt it pays off ten fold. Thanks to you both, I have Yogi in my life, and I could not be happier. Well that's it from here. I look forward to hearing from you, and I will send some photos of Yogi in the snow next week.

Yogi and I miss you both, and wanted to give you an update. First I hope all is well. As for Yogi things are great! I can't believe he is going to be 3 next month. I don't know where the time goes. Yogi's vet's office is where I get him groomed, and everyone there just loves him, and he loves them right back. We managed to get Yogi on the scale, and he is an amazing 230 pounds of love. The Vet said he looks great, and believes he is close to his maintenance weight. You can still see his ribs, and his belly is not big at all. Do you recommend flax seed oil or Glucosamine, or any other product for his joints? He has no problems, but if there is something I can do to protect and/or help avoid future joint problems I would love to know.

He has matured into one extra special boy. He is so gentle, especially around children, and with all dogs. People just can't believe how big, and gentle he is. I take him every where with me, and there is not a second that goes by in which someone wants to meet him, or ask about him. I am truly proud to be a part of his life, and all this would not have been possible without you guys. I would not trade him for the world. As I mentioned in the past I am lucky to have great neighbors who have great dogs as well. Yogi's best friend is Ubu a 14 year old black lab that lives next door. Ubu is truly amazing. He taught Yogi well when Yogi was a puppy, and now it is Yogi, helping Ubu by keeping him young. Yogi's other close friend is a Pug that looks identical to Yogi, minus 210 pounds. Milo is adorable and has the same exact color and markings as Yogi. We took Milo and Yogi to the park on Friday and I am going to forward pictures.

I was curious to learn if Dixie and Rufus are still alive, and how they are doing? They deserve to know what a special boy they produced. If they are well please give them both a belly rub and/or a treat for me, and I will do the same with Yogi. . . Take care and I look forward to speaking again.

Best Wishes,
David and Yogi.

I hope you are both well. I know it has been a few months since we last spoke. Yogi is great. He had his check up last week and his vaccination shots, and he is really doing well. His eyes, ears and teeth are all perfect. His joints, stomach and heart all checked out perfect as well, and he now weighs 188 pounds. He brings me such joy every day and it grows as quickly as he does. We have this great football field near us that is never used during the day so Yogi and I spend a good 45 minutes there every day. We walk and play ball and he just has a blast. We still spend every second together, and man does he love going for rides in my truck. He is going through a slight teenage rebel phase right now, but nothing out of the ordinary. He is everything you promised and more. I am an AM lover for life, and who knows in a year or two a female brindle might have to join Yogi and I.
I was looking at your web site and I loved Yogi's Bio and pictures. Thank you for sharing him with the world, because he absolutely deserves it.  I am going to attach 2 more pictures. I hope you enjoy them. He takes such great pictures it is always so hard to choose which ones to send. Take care and I hope to speak with you both some time soon.
Sincerely,
David and Yogi

This is David and Yogi just checking in. I hope you are both well. Yogi is doing great. He is 160 pounds and still growing, in size and love :) He is in good shape. The vet is happy with how he looks and how he is growing. I can't believe he is 1 month away from his 1st birthday. He amazes me every day, wether it is being extra gentle around a baby or his patience and acceptance with a yapping little dog in his face. He truly is impressive. There is no doubt even with his size that he is still a puppy when it comes to the energy he has. I am somewhat looking forward to the "couch potato" phase whenever that may be. I love that he has managed to keep the few brindle spots he had when he was younger, it is so cute.
Well that's it from here. I will speak with you soon, and I will send some new pictures soon.
Best Wishes,
David and Yogi

I hope you are well. Yogi is doing great. He weighed in a svelte 150 lbs. today, and the Vet is pretty certain he has at least 40 more pounds to go. He really enjoys being in the water. He doesn't swim, but he has a blast. He is a star wherever he goes, and he is truly a gentle giant. He gets along with every dog he has ever met, and is so great with kids. Rufus and Dixie could not have done better job when they made Yogi.
Take care and I will speak with you both real soon.
