Subject: Sonoma
Hi I have been meaning to contact you for
sometime. I have had a Georgian Grande mare in training for a year.
Her name is SONOMA. I showed her
three times this year, and
she won every time! I started her at first and second, and
then moved her up to second and third. I am planning on bringing her
out PSG.
I have been riding
warmbloods for the past twenty
years. Have done all of the training myself. Won many national
awards including PSG at Devon. Sonoma has a wonderful
mind!! I have never been so in love
with a horse! She was just sitting in my barn doing
nothing. I sold my GP horse because of an old suspensory injury. I
had no money to buy another horse, so I ask the owner if I could
start riding her. She was fine with it. Here we are one year later
schooling FEI!

Hi, Fredericka;
Here is a picture of Sonoma at three years.
I ride dressage, as you know, and I hope to bring her out in the spring of
2004 at training level. Right now, she really looks like she could go all the
way to Grand Prix.
The best thing about her, though, is her temperament. She is the
most docile, quiet and thinking horse I have ever met. She has never
spooked, took to the saddle like it was old news, and allows my 7
year old daughter to handle her.
She is now standing 16 hands and as you cansee, she is growing up GORGEOUS! We will be
backing her next month and I can hardly wait
to sit on her!
Thank you,Fredericka!
We are so happy with her!

This is a letter we received from Ericka soon after
she purchased Sonoma from Flying W Farms as a yearling
Dear Fredericka and Robin,
I have to tell you that the video you sent me on my filly was a bit
misleading: she is at least TWICE as good in person!!
This yearling is doing just great. She is as smart as a whip and has a
kind and patient disposition. Within two days of arriving, she was
standing quietly on cross ties, allowing her hooves to be picked, and
generally adjusting beautifully.
On top of her fabulous temperament, boy is she ever a MOVER! My dressage
trainer, the hauler who picked her up, my farrier, and my vet are all in
awe of this spectacular girl. The two phrases everyone has used so far to
describe her are "elegant" and "grand prix dressage potential." The
hauler, who has been a conformation judge for ten years, called me 20
minutes after leaving Flying W Farms to tell me what a gorgeous and
elegant girl I had bought and how fantastic her topline is.
In case you have not figured it out yet, I just love this filly! Thanks
so much to both of you. I will keep you updated on her progress and will
email you photos as well.
Please do not forget to send me your next video. I will be anxious to see
how Tiger Lilly's filly is coming along. Also, if you repeated the
breeding that produced my filly, let me know what that foal is like,
too. I have a feeling that this will not be my last Flying W Farms baby.
If you are ever in the Chicago area and want to stop by and visit, please
do not hesitate to drop me a note or give me a call.
Best wishes to both of you,
- Erika
